Join us each Wednesday evening at 7pm in the Christ Chapel for midweek Advent services. We will be following the Holden Evening Prayer liturgy. Learn more about the 30th anniversary Holden Evening Prayer and listen to clips here.
As much of the world rushes through the Christmas season frantically shopping, putting up decorations, and waiting for Santa, we invite you to join us during this beautiful time of waiting. Waiting for the greatest gift, our Savior.
Advent is a time of preparation and anticipation for the coming of Christ both in the past in His incarnation as the baby Jesus, but also in the future with His promised second coming as Christ Triumphant. Furthermore, Advent is a time to focus on His present coming to us in the Word and Sacraments.

Week 1|The candle of Hope
We can have hope because God is faithful and will keep the promises made to us. Our hope comes from God!
“And again, Isaiah says, ‘The Root of Jesse will spring up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; the Gentiles will hope in him.’ May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” ~ Romans 15:12-13
Week 2|The Faith Candle
The “Bethlehem Candle” reminds us of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem.
“As is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: ‘A voice of one calling in the desert, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him. Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. And all mankind will see God’s salvation.‘
Luke 3:4-6
Week 3|The candle of Joy
The “Shepherd’s Candle” reminds us of the Joy the world experienced at the coming birth of Jesus.
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.
Luke 9-11
Week 4|The candle of Peace
The “Angel Candle” reminds us of the message of the angels: “Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men.”
