The Heart of Maundy Thursday: A New Way to Love

On Maundy Thursday, we remember one of the most intimate and powerful moments of Jesus’ ministry — a night when He became both host and servant.

At the Last Supper, Jesus didn’t just share a meal; He knelt down and washed His disciples’ feet, teaching us that real leadership is rooted in humility. In doing so, He gave His followers a new commandment:

"Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." — John 13:34

This kind of love isn't just about emotions — it's about action. It's about serving others even when it’s inconvenient, choosing compassion over pride, and creating a community where everyone feels valued and known.

In a world that often prizes status, success, and self-interest, Jesus invites us to live differently. He calls us to let love be the defining mark of our lives.

Reflection

Who in my life could use a reminder of God's love — and how can I show it through a simple act of kindness?

Closing Prayer

Lord Jesus, You knelt to serve when You could have demanded to be served. Help me to love like that — with open hands, open heart, and no strings attached. Fill me with Your kind of love, and send me to share it. Amen.
